Gorgeous Greyhounds and Mean Bikers

September 16, 2006

The weather forecast had predicted a rainy weekend, so when I woke up to bright sunshine this morning, I just had to get out of the house and “do something.” Shaun, who is a regular weekend visitor, came with us to Galena, where we window shopped and had lunch.

Now for those of you who have never been to Galena, it’s a little tourist town in Illinois, very historic and filled with quaint and cutsy shops and restaurants. This weekend there were ALOT of tourists,… we could tell this because we had to drive around several times before we found any parking spot. All the lots, paid and free, were full, and the pedestrians were enough to make the most patient driver pull out their hair in frustration. After finally parking, we went straight to eat, but walked into a place that was packed,…. and I’m still frustrated at the biker in black leather chaps who banged into me, pushing me belly first into a wall. He didn’t even bother to apologize,… apparently pregnant women are simply targets to him. Oh well,… I was a good girl, and didn’t say anything, since if he didn’t mind pushing me around, he probably wouldn’t mind anything I could say.

This evening I was going to send Tim and Shaun to a movie, but they ended up not going because the theater was packed with people waiting to see Gridiron Gang. Wanting to do something, we ended up going to the Dubuque Greyhound Park and Casino. Now, one thing you should know about me is I am NOT a gambler. I actually get nervous watching people do the equivalent of throwing their money away,… but I’m really good at holding people’s wallets and not letting the “gambling bug” win. But I had more fun than I expected, watching those dogs run. The dogs were so beautiful,… I just wanted to pet them, and take them home. When we move back home (someday), I think I’d like to get a greyhound from the adoption center that the park offers.

And Shaun keeps reminding me to tell everyone that he won $30.00 on a slot machine,… playing only a dollar. He did have a run of good luck,… I meanwhile had $23.00 in my pocket when we walked into the park, and I have $23.00 in my pocket now. I’m happy with that:)

I think the proper title should be: The Beautiful Big Cheese and the Bastard Bouncing Biker

I wonder if your legs are the only thing that will get shaved. I do not know if they shave your private parts now or not but boy did that itch growing back. It sounds like you have it organized and you are ready; the next move is up to Gabe. Good luck and I hope the wait is not too much longer. My son was a couple of weeks late, he has never been on time for anything since unless it is work relate and involves a paycheck.

Heather, I’m sorry about your run-in with the nasty biker. Someday maybe a few women will gang up on him and show him how important manners are.

I have always wanted to go to a casino, but am afraid the bug might bite me. Besides, we don’t really have anything close to us.
